• Migraines and/or severe headaches.For most of us, headaches can be common in our lifetime; however, migraines are far more common and more painful. For some, migraines can be debilitating causing sensitivity to lights and sounds.  Migraines can be so severe, some folks are dizzy, disoriented, and have trouble getting up out of bed. Some common symptoms of migraines include nausea, sensitivity to stimulus, and fatigue. 

• Lacerations and cuts.Many of us will require stitches at least once in our lives. Children are especially prone to split lips or cuts on their foreheads that require stitches.

• Sprains and Broken Bones. Mostly children and seniors come in for sprains and broken bones. If you are suffering from a sprain, try to avoid the ER and don’t pick up any heavy items. In addition, getting an x-ray of a sprained or broken bone is highly recommended. In addition, look for swelling, redness, bruising and visible deformities.

• Abdominal pain. Another most common reason why people visit the emergency room is abdominal pain which may have a non-emergent cause, like indigestion or stomach flu. But
  you can also develop a condition that requires immediate, emergency attention. Some of these include appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy, diabetic ketoacidosis, kidney infection or kidney stones, torn colon or even shingles. Kidney stones can cause intense, stabbing pains. While most of these are rare, it’s important that you never ignore serious abdominal pain. If you experience any of these discomforts, go to your nearest hospital and rule out any serious abdominal discomfort.
